@Scubbie Not economically. The cost of lodge, meals and transportation to the middle of nowhere would make it way too expensive.
That's why during slavery, the owner covered these costs to be recovered over the entire year of harvest (plus the slave couldn't quit) - and that was before our crazy inflation.
@Zeb you could offer perdeim like they do in construction as a reward if you make a 50 hr week
@Zeb they would be a sub contractor I would deduct perdeim they responsible for their own health care
@Scubbie True, but you would also have to scrub a lot of the other worker's protections (employer-paid health insurance, minimum wage and paid medical/parental leave) if you intend to compete in the export market.
If you close off the market then you could have some government subsidy and keep the labor laws, like France does.
