@Scubbie Not economically. The cost of lodge, meals and transportation to the middle of nowhere would make it way too expensive.
That's why during slavery, the owner covered these costs to be recovered over the entire year of harvest (plus the slave couldn't quit) - and that was before our crazy inflation.

@Scubbie Yes, the employer would have to offer more money to be worth it in any case. The issue is always how to keep your costs low enough to have competitive prices that generate profit at the end.
It will inevitably be automated (most of it already is).
