Welfare works in exactly the opposite way. It subsidizes the economically weak and unfit, even incentivizing people to stop being productive and "game" the system, while burdening the productive with higher taxes, diversity quotas, etc.

At the end of the day, a society that demands it's government be responsible for their welfare is submitting to slavery.

The problem is unsolvable. All you can do is prepare to repel those who try to use force against you and make an example out of them to dissuade the others.

Democracy TENDS to promote equality, so the Left supports it, but SOMETIMES the people pump the brakes, and then the Left claims that Fascists have taken over and they use whatever tools they have to control the people.

Democracy is just a means. There is no "will of the people". There are only groups with their own values and preferences.
