One of my family members caught me on the TRP subreddit but they chalked it up to a bad break up.

I haven't spent the time to think through all the criteria myself yet so I can't give a definitive answer.
But off the top of my head there woud be an economic basis to it, like the net taxpayer thing, and a moral basis to it.

Nations DO regularly need protecting from ignorance and those easily swayed by emotional arguments or no evidence, or those without the capacity for reason. Hence children or retards can't vote. Hence TWRA too.
