@kaiservenom @Tfmonkey Japan's work culture may have some issues, but it is not THE reason that the birth rates are low. This is pretty much just "the economy is the reason people are not having children" meme that has been used as an excuse.
I don't think I need to say it is women's empowerment lowering birth rates, but for those that want to blame economic conditions should be told to provide an example of a "good" economy where birth rates are good. Most likely they will have no example.
@kaiservenom @Tfmonkey Depends on who you ask. Some on the right might cite them, but I suspect a lefty might cite some Scandinavian country with a birthrate of 1.7 instead of 1.4. All of which is due to immigrants in those countries having a lot of kids while the native population still has a low birthrate, which shows that the generous welfare does not raise birth rates but rather just attracts those who are looking for more money with kids they already would have had regardless.
@houseoftolstoy @Tfmonkey
Or they will cite cases like Hungary where they did a bit of reforms just to have a mediocre increase in birth rates which weren't even at replacement levels.
