@furgar No wait, he is right. Just think about it for a moment.
@mushroom_soup The first issue is the roommate wanted to start a fight. "But I was drunk" is no excuse, as you being drunk does not make you do something you did not truly want to do. When I used to drink, I never once tried to start a fight.
In short, he is a violent asshole for wanting to fight even when drunk. The alcohol just removed the inhibition to do what he really wants to do.
Kicking the cat is another extension of the same assholishness. But in a way worse.
@basedbagel Yes, they are foolish. That is exactly why they kept pushing. They must have thought, "Men still participate fully even though we have altered the deal, so difference will it make to push things a little further?" They must have freaked out that men started to just stop playing the game, because in the end, they know they need men.
Backing out will be nearly impossible, thanks to women voting. It is not as if they can give men a better deal. But they pushed too far and too fast.
@basedbagel It is easier to kill momentum of ideas when they are smaller in scope. From their view, if too many men check out of the role of being the dutiful productive citizen, they not only are not creating more economic output, but they might get other ideas. Ideas such as, "Why would I want to fight for my country?" You can see this with the military recruiting crisis (though the vaxx mandates were not helping either).
Men checking out = a decline in the system.
@basedbagel The only "threat" that MGTOW supposedly presents is that it gets men to stop living their lives for the benefit of women. Namely, to stop putting in a lot of work to impress them. This often means they are earning less money, which means they are being less productive. This means the government gets less in taxes and economic output, which lessens their power.
But MGTOW did not cause this. It is more of a label than anything. Men will still respond based on present conditions.
@Aether I had no faith in any western live adaptation of One Piece succeeding, and that was before there was any announcements. Even if they are faithful to the source material, I still do not see this as a good prospect. And I doubt they will be all that faithful.
Too many of these adaptation try to appeal to "the general public" and end up watering down the source material. And that is before we factor in any libshit propaganda they might try to shove in there.
@SuperLutheran It turns out that it was not having a tidy home that sparked joy for Marie, but having children of her own to take care of. Just as nature intended.
Those that equate "freedom" with getting happy outcomes or getting provisions show that they do not understand actual freedom. Freedom can give you the means to succeed, but it can also result in you failing as well.
For example, if you hit a baseball of a tee, you are far more likely to hit the ball. But if you are someone wanting to hit a home run, hitting a ball off a tee would limit that capability. "But I want to be free from striking out," means you do not understand freedom.
@sickburnbro @Granwalder Most people do not realize how much difficulty and discomfort will factor in with space travel. No, space travel will not be like Star Trek with all the comforts and conveniences the Enterprise has. The best comparison is to travel in a submarine, which will also be cramped and dangerous. And unlike a submarine, which can leave the depths in relatively short time, you will be not be able to "go back home" quite as easily.
@LurkPerry @CoQ_10 Hey now, if you avoid eating eggs, you can look just like Dr. Michael Greger. Truly the pinnacle of health and fitness right here.
One theory I am willing to accept as possibly being true is Hitler not actually dying during WWII but rather that he escaped to another country such as Argentina. Who was it that claimed to have found his dead body? The Soviets? You mean those same people that became our enemy for the next 5 decades? Is it possible they lied to us? I would not be surprised by that.
@CrimeaRiver @WashedOutGundamPilot Women these days are waiting at the finish line for winners rather than investing in a man before his prime earning years. The "behind every successful man is a woman" is laughable if that is trying to imply that the woman was the primary reason for his success. Rather, the woman only chose that man because he was successful.
Another thing, men who are bachelors have little need to earn more than they need themselves. But not necessarily because they couldn't.
@CrimeaRiver @WashedOutGundamPilot That may be true, but do you understand why that is? A man does not increase his earning potential because he is married. Rather, married men more often have a need to earn more money given he is not just paying for himself, but a family.
Also, take a moment to think the vast majority of women would marry a man making only 40k a year versus one making 100k. It does not take a genius to figure out that women seek out those men.
@WashedOutGundamPilot Women nearing the end of their fertility window versus men entering their prime financial earning years. Who would have thought that apples to Oranges comparisons would have turned out this way?
@Heil_Honkler @redmaple The one that is referenced in "Every time you read the credits for a story like the one in your webm it is written by a woman." I was not expecting you to have it, as it was a long shot. I will just need to infer as much as I can from the context of the post.
I keep having to point this thing out to old boomer guys, where they think we’ve lived in anything close to their world and got the same read on history. I’ve heard them talk about how “Well nobody really knows about the Tuskegee airmen, they never got credit” and “yeah nobody appreciates Amelia Earhart….” and they never wrap their heads around the fact that those entities are ALL my generation learned about. Nobody learned about Gabby Gabreski or Carlos Hathcock, we learned ONLY about the women and browns throughout every phase of american history.
Civil war lessons in high school entirely omitted anything about the fighting men except for some negro legion that managed to fight a small fraction of the war. Probably just so we could watch that shitty movie in class with tiger woods (or a sufficiently similar black)
But having old guys expecting me to have been taught the same things they were in 1965 is hilarious
Looks like this will be my new home. Warning: I (probably) have Asperger's, so my be prepared for my autism to show through.
I don't think I am a right wing extremist, but I am sure anyone with low testosterone might think otherwise.
