They are Police, for the Military. Would you shoot a cop committing even an illegal act that endangered your own life?
These MPs are given license to use force, during time of war. It does not explicitly say that in the UCMJ but I can assure you, this is something we come to understand and talk about. Especially on deployment.
If you are going to die anyway then would you rather die in a warzone or die shooting the person who is sending you into the war zone in self defense?
