So in biology class I was taught that viruses are not alive or they do not meet all the biological criteria for life

But now some people say a vaccine uses a weakened or dead virus

But if a virus was never alive then how can it be dead

Really makes you think

@shortstories 😆😆😆 Oh no why You thinking soo much hurry up and get a goyslup

@shortstories When I was in biology they taught us that viruses WERE alive. Consumed, reproduced, and shed waste. They looked like shitty, multi-legged lightbulbs, not the spiky spheres they all allegedly look like today.

@RoninGrey

They told me they were not alive because they could not reproduce on their own without a host organism and they might have listed additional reasons based on other things they can not do on their own without a host organism

But by that reasoning many parasites which are made out of multiple cells would not be alive

@shortstories And didn't the teacher also tell you the difference is one is functional and reproduces, while the other does not?

Whether it's "alive" or not, is a philosophical question, nothing more.
