GOP pols mostly went to elite schools & worked as lawyers. The core GOP base -- the "local gentry" who own the car dealerships & fast food franchises -- are financially well off, at least in local/regional terms.
Both groups use the "callused working class" purely as an ideological bludgeon.

One of my favorite things has been explaining to people how cowardly the Israelis are, in particular how their extreme aversion to taking casualties results in them taking wayy more casualties and also shitting their diapers

So I have heard people claim that in Islam it is traditional to chop off the right hand of a thief
Now if they chop off the hands of enemy combatants they captured who were thieves this would help criple the economy of Israel possibly more than executing the enemy combatants. And the Israeli military members are thieves who are trying to steal land.
