What did they used to call, "virtue signalling" before that term became common in the English language?

There is probably some term for it in Bible translations

1 Timothy 5:13 talks about women going around from house to house gossipping with idle chit chat or something similar to that

now males can do that also but I would suggest females could afford to do that more often

Jesus gave a lot of Sermons about the problem of virtue signalling to Pharisees without using that English terminology

We are told Flooding and high levels of rain near states of Wisconsin & Michigan next to great lakes in the current year of 2026

But we are also told great lakes water levels are low in 2026

Now great lake water levels could be lower than average for the alleged 15 year cycle but increasing compared to last year instead of decreasing because of the rain

We should ask if desert states & foreigm countries & immigrant populations diverting great lakes water are to blame for the low water levels
