Sturgeon's law (or Sturgeon's revelation) is an adage stating "ninety percent of everything is crap". It was coined by Theodore Sturgeon, an American science fiction author and critic, and was inspired by his observation that, while science fiction was often derided for its low quality by critics, most work in other fields was low-quality too, and so science fiction was no different.[1]

If those who are smarter than 80% are not vastly smarter than your average person then how come those who are more productive than 80% are vastly more productive than your average person according to the pareto principle

Are they more productive for some reason other than intelligence

@white_male @djsumdog @jazzilla

So raw data is transmuted to look like it fits a bell curve distribution. Then they say the transmuted data fits a bell curve. They transmute the raw intellence scores until they fit a bell curve. The raw intelligence scores also have a maximum score of 100% on the test and have a limit on how hard the questions can be which is probkematic.

People with average intelligence are vastly different from geniuses and treating them as equals is holding society back

Computer Science majors are the equivalent of the Business Administration degree in the 90's.
Useless degree.

@white_male @djsumdog @jazzilla

So are you advocating that most people have about the same amount of intelligence on average and there are not massive gaps between those who study and were not born with cognitive disabilities and those who either do not try to study or were born with cognitive disabilities

Are you arguing that most people are close to equal

Are you arguing that there is not a massive difference between someone who is smarter than 80% of people and an average person?

@white_male

It is easier to justify Statist communism if you assume a certain kind of bell curve distribution rather than a certain kind of power distribution for intelligence, strength and other attributes that effect the autonomy and productivity and caoability of people

I suspect that is why the default position in the social sciences is to start with a bell curve assumption and then not test if the data would fit some other curve better followed by a t test or z test

@djsumdog @jazzilla

I would suggest that intelligence is probably closer to a power distribution than a bell curve and the implications of this are very important

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_

If you have a certain kind of bell curve distribution most people tend to be much closer to being equal to one another in terms of intelligence and someone who is smarter than 80% of people will have a much smaller gap of difference between someone who is average than the type of power distribution I suspect

@BobsonDugnuttHB @bennyjohnson naw insurectionists are average joes who got duped by trump into walking into the capital. these are democracy preservers, you see democracy is when you destroy your people.

DHS is using tear gas to hold them off.

I am not saying whether or not Kevin Spacey was guilty but I would suggest it would be interesting to contemplate the possibility that because the accusers were malecand not female he was not found guilty

As long as there would be law suits preventing male only gyms

But women only gyms including but not limited to certain branches of curves are allowed to exclude males

Then in the name of equality I support the right of people who were assigned male gender at birth to identify as woman and exercise in woman only gyms

I had a Korean friend who told me one day "There are many things about your culture that I don't understand, but you guys had the right idea when it came to toilets."
