the proper cure for that is to tell the eurofags that either they split the costs for the research and we pay the same price for the drugs, or they get stomped and lose access to everything; if the research is taking place in (what used to be) a high-trust community such as the US, with all of the benefits of doing that work here, then that has an attendant cost that everybody else is gonna pay too for access to the same goods or they're not gonna get them

this requires that we be "an actual real country" and not simply a bazaar/resource colony bridging the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, though
