@VooDooMedic @Tfmonkey @mrhorsetwat I was listening to the Saturday show, and I need to make mention of something: good potatoes, good bread, and good rice are not just filler, and they don't taste the same. I will grant that most commercially available products such as your average Russet potatoe or your generic white bread at Aldi, don't taste very good and are used by the masses as vehicles for other products such as meats and vegetables.

@VooDooMedic @Tfmonkey @mrhorsetwat The advice to just swap out the carb for lettuce or eggs is good advice for most people though who are less concerned than I am about these things.

It is good advice for some diabetic and prediabetic people and for some sedentary people if it lowers the number of calories they eat and helps stabilize blood sugar level

It is not good advice for high intensity endurance athletes

@shortstories @DoubleD @VooDooMedic @mrhorsetwat If you're a high intensity endurance athlete, you aren't worried about gaining weight. You're probably 0% fat and trying to keep weight on.

@Tfmonkey @DoubleD @VooDooMedic @mrhorsetwat

The fat can not be used as a primary fuel source for long duration exercise longer than about 30 seconds above a certain intensity which exclusively uses carbohydrate for anaerobic glycolysis

Eating extra fat beyond the minimum lower limit for essential fatty acids will not boost endurance because it can not be used for anaerobic glycolysis but it will raise body fat percentage

But each situation is different & low carb diets are sometimes good
