Having not been in school for long enough, I am not sure if the DARE program is still going on or how long it has not been in place. Regardless, the DARE program is the perfect example of how "education" does not solve major problems. It is not that people lack information about drugs being bad, we already know that. The people that use drugs got all that info, they just don't care.

This same principle can be applied in many other areas. So don't let libshits tell you education is the solution.

@houseoftolstoy

Education depends on the recipient having the ability and will to receive it.

People are going to do drugs.

We are not all equal. Some are rising, some are falling. Let nature work on us.

@amerika @houseoftolstoy If DARE gave us accurate info, it probably would have helped a few people. Might as well say "if you have sex, you'll go to Hell" and call it a day

@RatchetGuy @houseoftolstoy

Anti-drug programs are universally bad.

The one I would teach would turn hairs white but would be useful at least.

@amerika @houseoftolstoy There's value in the idea, though. It's no different than warning kids about the long term effects of debt.

Most people will be offered a loan before anyone offers them free drugs, after all.

@RatchetGuy @houseoftolstoy

It's probably only marginally easier to get drugs than a credit card.

@houseoftolstoy the problem is the people do what feels good until it feels bad.

Just let people do what they want with their bodies but don't allow them to get free Healthcare, or disability/unemployment when they destroy their bodies with drugs.

Nature has a way of punishing stupid behavior all on its own if we would simply allow it to function and let nature take its course.

@Tfmonkey I am fine with letting people fail from their poor decisions. If those people hit rock bottom and find themselves ruined, be it financially or physically, they can serve the purpose for others an example of what not to do.

And due to people doing what feels good, it is often impossible to have enough education to make them change their ways. Especially if they are stupid. But as we know, those who believe in equality refuse to accept that some people are just too stupid to be helped.

@houseoftolstoy telling people something is dangerous doesnt stop them from doing it. danger can be fun. you ever driven a car 100 miles per hour? its exhilirating.

@PapaPole Yes, people like to do what is fun/exhilarating. But that is often not in their best interests. There is only so much teaching that can be done to have people do what is in their best interests. Those that can be reached do not require that much teaching, and those that cannot are usually a lost cause.

But the premise that we just need to TEACH more is something lost on those who are too stuck on the value of equality. They really don't like the idea that stupid people exist.
