If mitochondria produce energy then why wouldn't changes in mitochondrial DNA sequences effect energy production per time
what else would changing the mitochondrial DNA do in matters of metabolism?

Perhaps having a lower energy production per time might encourage a preference for scamming behavior as a means to survive rather than doing difficult physical or mental behavior that requires more energy per time to reduce fatigue
