If we replaced Israel with the world's largest canal legally through eminent domain approved by the United States Congress could we bipass and avoid having to go through the strait of Hormuz for shipping?

What if The United States knows that ships are incredibly vulnerable to drones, missiles, torpedoes and rockets and is intentionally putting ships in the water in order to have an excuse to start a official war by claiming that Iran sunk a ship

This has happened multiple times to start other wars according to some people
