If I'm not mistaken, almost every normal house has windows on all four sides. The "opaque or reflective surface" is called a "blind" or "shutter". 😏

For example, the low-energy Passivhaus standard is very conscious of glazing area, and something called the solar heat gain coefficient, which can be modified by special coatings on the windows so you get less heat for the same amount of natural light. It works by filtering infrared and UV.
