@RoninGrey Your statement about republic vs theocracy is a good one. The only way that would work is when there is a literal god on a throne judging well, or making pillars of fire and smoke and parting seas. Many atheists say they would believe if God did these things on the regular.

@mutagenus There is a lot of inner conflict right now within Christianity. The narrative of the "Left Behind" eschatology is being pushed back against. Everyone seems to have a different name for them- death cult, accelerationists, evangelicals, futurists, dispensationalists, Zionists, etc. I think the only misnomer among those is Evangelicals (too broad, and does not differentiate between the problem and the greater body of believers). But it's being talked about more openly. Time will tell!

But I have found it more reasonable to be open to the WILDEST theories and give them a good digging-into if I feel interested or it's urget or significant enough. I went to HS with my local barber (woman). Every time I'm here she talks about some HS friend she still talks to and some tragedy that befell one of them.

I don't give a shit and have never attended a reunion. It's been 25+ years. And most of them were degenerate and childish. They're the same still, just fatter and uglier. They obsess over football, drinking, and boating but look down on videogames.

They still go to concerts, want more tattoos, still say, "rock on" and dye their hair blue.
