Customer: why is the Christmas stuff out already? it's only October!
Me: it's called Christmas Creep, you wanna know why they do it?

>a few hours later

Me: ...and there's no way they could have been gassed, the doors on the "gas chambers" are wooden

@shortstories As a masculine presenting transgender lesbian that's certainly not a dog, I agree.

@LavenderPawprints I wish is was as easy to dual-boot as it used to be. Keeping Windows happy with TPM and secureboot is such a pain I just have 2 physical machines now. Maybe I have trouble because I'm a dog and don't have thumbs, though.

@Morghur @inertia My most used piece of gear is my folding bike. Gas is expensive, so I bike pretty much anywhere less than 10 miles away unless I'm buying a bunch of groceries or something or moving for the night.

I like talking to random people because you're probably never going to see them again, so if you're goofy, who cares?

@boilingsteam Wasn't expecting to see Arch in #1. The sort of people who are going to cobble together an OS to game without Windows are also the sort of people Arch is aimed at, though. I had an Arch gaming rig for years

@inertia @Morghur I love being able to change scenery on a whim. Even after I get some land, I'm not getting rid of my van. Just going to make an awning, add some more solar, drill a well, and grow as much of my own food as I can.

1000 is food, gas and everything. Van will be paid off soon and that'll knock off another 200. I could drive dirty and take off another 200, but I get bothered by police way to much for that to be worth it.

@Morghur @inertia It's not for everyone. Social media glosses over a lot of the shitty aspects: cops hassle you way more often, breakdowns happen, almost impossible to maintain a long term relationship(there are chicks really into the van vibe, though) I got used to austere living back in the Service, so the transition was easy.

@professionalbigot69 Hit on chicks at hotel bars. They've already got a room to go back to and it's super low-threat, since you'll never see them again either way.

@inertia @Morghur It's ~$1000 total. Fluctuates depending on how much I drive, but I only average ~10k miles a year. I like it, but not being able to put down roots and become part of the local community is rough. I do get to meet loads of cool people though. As negative as I am here, there's a lot of awesome people in the world; you just gotta talk to them. Hopefully will have saved enough to buy some land soon.
