Except they have had a name for 2,000 years, a flag for 60 yrs (Israel's flag is 75 yrs), a history, a self-identifying population, have been acknowledged by the UN and given their own land (not unlike the "Cherokee Nation"), and has its own President.
The West calls it a "State" because they're Jewphiles. Palestine uses a different form of government, so we don't recognize it because we want everyone to sit at our table on our terms.
