Scientists Revive Extinct Cannabis Enzymes to Trace the Drug’s Ancient Origins.

Scientists have successfully resurrected long-extinct cannabis enzymes, revealing how the plant first evolved the ability to produce compounds like THC, CBD, and CBC millions of years ago.

Using a method called ancestral sequence reconstruction, researchers from Wageningen University & Research rebuilt ancient enzymes that existed before modern cannabis evolved. When tested in the lab, these enzymes proved more flexible and resilient than today’s versions, capable of producing multiple cannabinoids at once rather than specializing in just one.

The findings suggest early cannabis plants relied on “promiscuous” enzymes that later evolved into the highly specialized cannabinoid-producing systems seen today. Beyond solving an evolutionary mystery, the work could help scientists engineer new medicinal cannabis varieties or produce rare cannabinoids more efficiently using biotechnology.

The study also shows that cannabinoid-producing enzymes evolved independently in cannabis and other unrelated plants, highlighting nature’s tendency to reinvent useful chemistry.

@jonnie_the_scoundrel Company provided vehicle same as my last delivery service provider, the contract ended with them thou. My last day with them was last Tuesday and now I’m starting with this new delivery service provider. Same warehouse location, just full-time instead of seasonal.

Today’s the day I begin my career with my new delivery service provider. Could just be the word career that’s causing this restlessness, the excitement of what’s to come and the experiences that will happen while I’m on route.

I didn’t think I’d be in this position, setting myself up for success. I earned this through, putting in the hard work at my last delivery service provider having evidence to support it. Time to dazzle with my tenacity and skill! Sleep alludes me though.

This was the evidence that got me hired, from my old delivery service provider. I worked September 2025 to January 2026. Then the contract ended.

I ended waking up at 3:00 am. so I did some cleaning and journaling. I also baked potatoes in the oven at 375 degrees for one hour with olive oil and seasonings curious how those turned out.

I have a drug test today soon with my new delivery service provider because my last one the contract expired.

Trying to steer away from geopolitics this year, focus on building myself, environment, and relationships.

Potatoes turned out fine, firm on the outside, soft inside.

This is funnier than it has any right to be.

Back in 2000 there were a lot of relationship magick gurus going around saying to make a list of all the things you want out of a gf/bf/spouse, and then list everything you need, and then be honest with yourself about what you can realistically find and attract and couple with and refine your lists accordingly. And then you were supposed to make yourself the kind of person that your ideal partner would want to be with. Women went crazy with the lists and have forgotten the most crucial parts.
