> The job is their only claim to importance, significance, and relevance
This is spot on!
I used to envy these lazy ass "managers" that slowed me down and didn't do any work until I realized that this is all they got and it's as good as it gets for them.
They have to live with the sword of Damocles and have constant paranoia someone will take their spot.
Deep down they hate themselves because they know no one woul deal with them if they didn't have to.

@basedbagel @Stahesh @amerika exactly and most those boomers will die once they loose their reason of importance
> they really do not have life outside work.
Slight correction: they dont have any *authority* outside of work.
Their family/friends avoid or walk all over their loser dark triad ass but at work people respect their title of middle manager so they don't starve.
I think this is why boomers hold on to jobs well past retirement age even when they have a wife, kids and hobbies.
They just don't want to let go of that one part of their life where they have any power.
@Stahesh @basedbagel it’s funny to me how companies try and give people a title for the ego trip, short guys really fall for this one a lot, there use to be a President and 1 Vice President, now you have 38 Vice Presidents compartmentalization the asphalt company had Vice President of finished product when I was working on a project,I drove a golf cart over a section that wasn’t finished and Juan came flexing his authority,I told him to go fuck hisself
Amen brother. The one time I worked with an all male older-guy team I loved it.
Competence off the charts, genuine cooperation, good banter, no fucking dramas at all, huge productivity. I miss that place.
The sheer amount of stuff that can get done with a good team of guys has to be seen to be believed sometimes.
@RoninGrey Women & men ought not to freemix. Especially in workplaces & gym.
Working with mostly guys lately and it's SO better than working with mostly women in real estate.
No backstabbing, fakery, constant monitoring, screwing each other over, grudges held. Everyone actually helps and goes BEYOND for each other.
I've even found the black men in society who show up to work, have real intelligence, have manners, and are willing to drive an hour to get to work.
It's a JOY.
For all the "positivity in the workplace," it was awful. But THIS group is more respectful.
