I hear you, and the criticisms against Black Hawk Down are valid for that very reason.

On the other hand, The Thin Red Line is a masterpiece and I'll keep watching it every now and then. It's a WWII movie so the soldiers in it are drafted and has nothing to do with American adventurism. An all time favorite.

And then there's the best parody of US adventurism ever, Team America. Another all time fave. When I first saw that movie I almost died from laughing so hard.
