Well lads, I made a poor financial decision... But on the bright-side, the post-collapse library has just gained a substantial addition. 🫡
What kind of library doesn't have an adequate reference section?
@charliebrownau - published in 1989. I picked it up used for $650 (new reprints go for $1,300)
As far as I know, there are two main editions. I think the first one was published in the 50's. I got this one off of eBay, and I think the earlier version was substantially cheaper, though naturally tends to be more worn and torn.
But I'm good with 1989 levels of academic wokeness. And I gotta say... This thing is pretty exhaustive.
@YoMomz People underestimate the value of reference material because they've forgotten how to do without electricity.
I have seen multiple volume encyclopedias but I have never seen multiple volume dictionaries
I have seen giant dictionaries That might have at least 4 times the spatial volume of one of those dictionaries though
@shortstories @YoMomz @DoubleD
Not a bad shout to get the dictionary set, but an older set of Encyclopedia Britannica would be more valuable to me.
I remember Owen Benjamin remarking that there's zero mention of the Holocaust in any of his 1967 editions. Apparently that didn't start appearing until the late 1970's.
I am looking for an old world dictionary
older the better
1901 to 1750
