Just so you have an idea how big of a problem this is, even TSA won't go through your things without giving you at least notice and you can always leave the airport/dump your luggage without letting them go through it.

I think you still didn't get what I meant. It doesn't matter the situation, your bag/personal items are like your house. Anyone going through it and invading your space is the same as invading your house to steal/destroy your personal things.
Stand your ground laws apply, you have the right for self-defense. Gotta act accordingly and make this person fear ever coming near your property again. People forget the police doesn't protect them from stab-and-runs.
