@Hoss @dew_the_dew More proof that access to information (the internet) is not the problem with people's inability to do things for themselves.

There are plenty of tutorial videos that teach you how to cook, at many different skill levels and random stages. One time, I wanted to use fresh cilantro for a recipe. But I did not know what part to cut and use (silly, I know, but I never did it before). I found a video that gave me the exact information I needed, and I was good to go.

No excuses.

@dew_the_dew If they were eating the fast food that is marked up due to the service costs, why would they suddenly need SNAP to get food that will be cheaper at the grocery store?

Even getting the premade meals in the freezer aisle that you microwave is cheaper than fast food, so not knowing how to cook does not factor here.

Verdict: Jared Moskowitz is a stupid faggot who did not think through his attempt at an insult.

@sickburnbro You can only concoct these sorts of stories and think they are convincing when you don't understand how right wingers think and don't understand how confession works.

If you want to give up your gun collection, no priest is going to say that you have to keep it (nor bad to have it). It is not a sin that you need to confess. You would only think this would be a topic of discussion if your premise on confession is that confession is just like a therapy session.

@Elliptica @Nou @TrevorGoodchild @sickburnbro Yeah, they actually believe this as everything slides leftward and anyone vaguely right wing is deplatformed, cancelled and labeled "fascist."

@Humpleupagus Not familiar with the Japanese constitution, but I am sure that it provided just as much justification for gay marriage to be legal as it was in the United States. Which is to say, not at all. Judges just make up shit and say it is the law.

I would not doubt that the globohomo mafia made sure to tell Japan that they need to accept sodomy or else they will get a sudden color revolution.

I care not whether a politician "cares" about me or not, or whether they live by their proclaimed values. What I do care about is how much are they interfering with my life.

As useless as Republicans are, they generally do not interfere with what I want to do. Democrats, on the other hand, do.

Obviously Rinos are in the same boat as Democrats many times in terms of messing with my life. So I really do not win even if I vote straight Republican. Still, the lesser evil is still usually less bad.

@Stahesh That already happens (or it should if I am mistaken). But they still weigh more, and put a greater burden on the total weight of the plane than one odd case where someone has a heavier than average suitcase.

I ask for consistency.

@Stahesh If I have to pay a fee for luggage over 50 lbs, we should be charging people when they are easily 100 lbs heavier than they should be.

I agree but not for the reasons he's implying.

Every time you add a new layer of abstraction you reduce how much control you have over the system, and reduce what you can do with it. That's what an abstraction does, it takes a lot of complexity and reduces it to a few controls.

Going from a rich GUI to a voice interface is going to narrow the possibilities dramatically. For most people it won't really matter because they weren't using their computers for anything but twitter, gmail, and microsoft word in the first place. But people who grow up with such a system will be helpless with a computer, much worse than the "don't know what a file system is" zoomers.

@mutageno Are we looking at the next location for a color revolution? Because I doubt that the Clown World powers are going to be content letting this slide.

Hey, remember when libshits were so upset about how Trump was an "embarrassment on the world stage," and that he was going to make relationships with other countries worse? Well, is this an example of things getting better?

@Shadowman311 But wait, there's more! You are looking at a troon there. So much of the panel was talking about how well "she" passed as a woman. Meanwhile, you cannot tell me that he passes as a human.

@basedbagel You can be right for the wrong reasons. Yes, I doubt there are more than 1% of Boomers that have any understanding of crypto. But they know enough to know that they should not involve themselves in something they do not understand. Often, that is the correct move when you do not know.

Those that had more knowledge of crypto would be more likely to invest. In many cases, having that little bit of knowledge could be more detrimental than none at all.
