I don't know enough to write a paper called "Ten Bad Ideas in Online Safety" that explains (briefly, in terms that the general reader will understand) what's wrong with age verification, crypto back doors, and other plausible-but-awful proposals, but I would read it gratefully and share the hell out of it if it existed. (This toot prompted by reading some of PLOS's "quick tips" papers and thinking about the value of anti-tips, i.e., "here are landmines you don't need to step on".)

I have started interviewing people to learn more about how they shut down scientific research projects and/or software projects (both open source and commercial). If you have done this, either deliberately (on your own timeline) or abruptly (looking at you, DOGE) and are willing to talk about your experience, please reach out: I'm [email protected].

So, so tired of cop shows. I want a series about three generations of an activist family. The grandparents were part of the anti-war/civil rights movement in the 60s. One of their kids is a slightly conservative gay corporate lawyer, the other manages a community center, and her kid is a trans college activist who's angry all the time. Throw in friends (and enemies) for all three generations, and start filming.

Archaeologists have discovered Sumerian cuneiform tablets which complain that software quality isn't what it used to be.

>>I have completely foregone most relationships and activities as it is.
Yeah. I talk to people that aren't my parents once a year, maybe. I don't go out except to buy food or take walks. I don't have any friends because they all moved abroad, I work from home and only as much as I need to buy food and pay the bills. There is nowhere to go and nothing to do anyway, unless you're into getting high or drunk alone in your room. I mostly just shitpost here, work out and read books.
I've more or less come to terms with the fact that there would be nothing worth fighting for, and since I'm not a consoooomer there is no need to break my back to make as much money as possible, since I have nothing to spend it on anyway. It is what it is.

Based.

BREAKING: Gavin Newsom just announced he will sign legislation to ban ICE Agents from wearing masks. This is huge.

@democraticwins

But it is illegal to share judges adresses to the public?

BREAKING: Stephen A. Smith just demolished Donald Trump for silencing Jimmy Kimmel. The American people are rising up against Trump. Let’s go.

Who do I know who is local and has a drone? I need some brief, specific, outdoor aerial video of DNA Lounge, for important comedy purposes. Email me, please.

@nomebullyyou

So the video games with a door in the mountain are based on real life and there is a dungeon inside the door full of dwarves and orcs and goblins and gnomes running a conveyor built and other modern mining technology and they will attack you with pick axes and throw dynamite at you if you enter along with a human in knights armor holding a giant sword and human people with machine guns wearing pants but no shirts and if you get far enough there is a portal to another realm?

@ins0mniak @Gonzo17

You can get their book Anarchy in The Age of Dinosaurs for free online and has a lot of interesting and unique ideas that are worthwhile to hear

Even though I do not claim to endorse anything they say or do as something that should be copied nor as directions to be followed
