This week I've been mainly reading, no. 269.
Laila Lalami, kafka-esque, dystopian novel The Dream Hotel (2025), tells a cautionary tale of giving up too much to the surveillance capitalists & the danger of predictive law enforcement. Its a well-written, well-structured & compelling narrative which packs a clear political punch. It nods back to other dystopian fiction but holds it own, delivering a highly satisfying political novel. Excellent!

Doesn't someone have to individually add code for every single letter then?
Drugs should be legalised as long as they have labels that accurately describe the ingredients & they do not go in someone else's body when the user takes them
Drug dealers who are not ensuring that illegal drugs have accurate ingredient descriptions should go to jail
Since smoking cigarrettes go into other people's body I think their sale should be outlawed but other ways to get nicotine should be legal
Recreational needle users who improperly dispose of needles should be jailed
What if there is sonething worse than a crash?
What if the stock market price increases and people celebrate thinking they gained money when actually they just made the price per earning ratio go down
Massive inflation and the majority of people think they became more rich when they just became more poor but are too stupid to figure it out

There will be no reductions coming, just more debt especially if war breaks out with Iran and then there is our Venezuela fiasco to come. Trump is on track to add at least another $8 Trillion to the Debt as he did in his first term.
