We need to gear society to select the type of people we want in the future if society is to be better in the future
Right now it works to select for people who make bad decisions because the more you ruin your life the more welfare you get
Handsome and ugly criteria are different for each species

Cut welfare for single mothers and women will choose mates based on men who make economically responsible decisions more often and those who do not will starve to death and decrease the frequency at which their genes spread

If a high enough % of the people who would normally obey that person choose to no longer obey them & are willing to use defensive force to protect the autonomy of those who do not want to fall under that person's rule then they no longer can rule
The person doing the talking that the other people obey is the person doing the ruling
The political, religious, corporate & academic institutions start with the presumption that history is what the news media said in the past
They set their policies based on what they say is best for society as justified by the news media
The words trickle down from the media on top to those other institutions to the police and military that enforce the policies out of blind faith
