So apparently some power lifters try to get obese so that they do not have to lift the bar as far from their body to the required location for competition when doing bench press and this obesity can make it easier to count a bench press without getting stronger

Competition tends to ruin the actual original goal that existed before the competition system was created

@shortstories @mitchconner I have a relative whom we assumed was non-celiac gluten intolerant; In time, however, it was determimed by buying heirloom wheat sourced from Eastern Europe, that it isn’t gluten, per se - but the Roundup-Ready wheat, that is the problem.

Carbohydrates are they really that bad for you?

@Shadowman311 Guy I worked for for some years also owned a number of rental properties, including a smallish apartment complex. My district manager would occasionally do other jobs for him, including helping to clean out units when old tenants moved out.

He told me a story once of this one unit he had to clean out that had been occupied by a family of Hmong; sort of the equivalent of Vietnamese hillbillies, only much, much more backwoods. These folks were just off the boat when they rented the place, and it turned out they didn't understand that you're supposed to take your trash out to the big dark blue dumpster. Not being able to burn it or bury in in their yard (because, apartments), they did something ... inventive.

They poked a hole in the ceiling of their first floor apartment and heaved bags of garbage up into the unoccupied second floor apartment above them. That shit went on for something like 4 or 5 months until they were evicted for other reasons. My boss said the smell was unbelievable, and that the juices from the garbage bags had leaked out and done all sorts of damage to the floor/ceiling separating the first and second floors.
just heard of some maniac "conservationist" who would drain the ponds on his property and bring the fish inside for the winter
