~The Glory of the Game~
Are you looking for purpose, to satisfy some else's need or want? Are you creating a meaning in your life that others don't understand or worse yet, fear?
The true value of existence is Goals. Not the quantity of achievement, nor the quality of such targets, but the pursuit of such ends.
Goals make the Game fun. If one's life has lost all meaning and one is ignorant of one's purpose, then one needs to remember one's goal in the Game of Life!
This is a game, PLAY!
~The Problem with Meaning~
Do you tell people that you have meaning? Do you seek some ultimate collection of sounds that other people would perceive as "great"? Have you heard other people squawk about their meaning then feel small in comparison?
Meaning can only be found in language. It does not exist outside the mind. As language evolves, so does meaning, yet a human remains the same. Making sounds to prove they have value to others.
Empty, yet full of desires.
~The Problem with Tools~
Are you looking for purpose? Do you long for external validation? Have you been hurt while trying to serve others?
Purpose is for tools alone. The Tool serves the Master. The Master alone benefits from the purpose of the Tool.
What is a hammer with a broken handle? What is a saw with blunted teeth? What is a screwdriver with a bent shaft?
Nothing.
The Master sees the usefulness of things then calls them tools.
---Kōan of Purpose---
Villainous Jack goes to the highway overpass to throw himself into traffic, to end his life.
John the Saint walks by, carrying a poop covered stick and a bag of wild cats.
Seeing this, Villainous asks the Saint if there is anything he can do to help.
Thinking a moment, the Saint hands the items over then says "Carry these."
Once Villainous takes the items, the Saint throws himself into traffic.
Perplexed, Villainous Jack wonders "How long should I hold on to these?"
~Fin
If one is in pain then one is injured.
If one is suffering then one is deluded.
I use to suffer that people weren't what I expected them to be. My delusion was I could control what people chose to be. I realize now I have no control over others, only control over myself, and that choices made, define a person.
What delusions are you suffering today?
We must remember this clearly, that man measures his every action by his impressions; of course they may be good or bad: if good, he is free from reproach; if bad, he pays the penalty in his own person, for it is impossible for one to be deluded and another to suffer for it. The man who remembers this, I say, will be angry with no one, indignant with no one, revile none, blame none, hate none, offend none.

@UncleIroh “A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.”
