I've been using those for so long I get surprised on the odd occasion when i watch an actual YT video at how shitty the experience is.

I post YT links here though because sometimes the instances go down as you say.

I think there are settings in Mastodon where you define default alternatives for all social media - nitter, teddit, invidious/piped - and it converts links on the fly to use those instead.

AMR would have to set that up though.

How to use youtube without supporting google:

1. Newpipe- Android app that removes ads, has background play and you can download videos.

2. invidious- alternative front end for youtube that does the same things as newpipe. But you may have to change instances alot becaues YT keeps blocking them.

3. Libretube- Android app using an invidious backend with a nice UI. Not as stable as newpipe though.

4. Freetube- Desktop app that saves all your sub data locally, watch ad-free and skip sponsors

I'd like to give a BIG shoutout to YT.

I had a youtube addiction for years that I couldn't kick.

Now that they've banned anyone worth listening to I got back into books and it's glorious!

Nobody reads so books aren't censored. 😉

Women see men the way most employees see business owners.

They only see the benefits of being in the top 20% and ignore all the work it took to get there.

Women who think "I would be treated better and be respected if I were a man" do not understand that men do not automatically get respect. It has to be earned. Women, on the other hand, get better treatment than most men do just for being women. They do not have the perspective of what it would mean to earn respected status.

But they are correct that they sense that they are not held as at high of esteem as the top men. Because we all know they did not need to put in effort for most of them.

Women and economics.
