@Stahesh said it best.

If Baron Bagel was in charge I'd have a secret society for intelligent people who don't get caught up in nonsensical race/gender/localist arguments.

@shortstories

Is there anything that can convince people here not to hate people groups on the basis of their ancestry or biological physical characteristics as long as those people learn to behave different

Stahesh boosted

@basedbagel Just like FM vs AM radio or the typewriter vs personal computer. Multi-billion (or million depending on the era) companies will die to a guy in his garage who has a dream and something that is in demand.

Stahesh boosted

It still cracks me up that our multi billion dollar media apparatus got its ass kicked by some random guys with phones/yeti mics so bad they had to ban them lol

Men get falsely accused of harassment, their careers destroyed and their money stolen: women most affected.

Stahesh boosted

Oh no! Men refusing to work with women, which hurts women's productivity! This is terrible!

Wait, why are these women unable to be as productive unless they are collaborating with men? Can't they just collaborate with each other? After all, we are told how smart and capable women are, so they should be just as productive when collaborating with other women.

Or perhaps this "collaboration" is just like what happens in group projects at school when you get paired up with a moron.

@Stahesh @basedbagel
Personally, the only use I found for project/middle managers are:
- They can find someone for me in the company that I don't know but need to talk to
- They go into useless meetings that I would otherwise have to attend
- When someone is trying to push an unrelated task to me or my team, I always direct them to discuss it in a meeting with the manager
So, basically, it's like an intern I don't have to train

@basedbagel @Stahesh
i solved that entire situation by being a contractor, depending on the area you can even have your own small business.
That means I get hired to actually work and do the hard part or try to fix the shitstorm after it hits the fan. I never get to coast along though - so it's a trade-off.

Many "colleagues" can't do that because they either need a monthly stable income, are scared of being unemployed or negotiating high rates or are ok with just doing the bare minimum daily.

@Zeb

Lol that shirt is TOO accurate.

The reason is that A players hire A players and b players hire c players.

A players are expensive and are more likely to leave. Also companies ❤️ hooking up their B-/C player buddies with a job.

After all who wants to spend 8 hrs working w/ folks you dislike?

These B/C players promote people dumber than them not to threaten their position and join up their C/D- player buddies.

And thats how you end up with this toxic mess we have today

If you want to know whether it's you or the job market, reach out to ~100 companies and offer your skills as an independent contractor.

Don't worry about it if they say yes, pay attention to their reaction.

It'll tell you everything you need to know

3. No matter how intelligent, productive l, and diligent you are they WILL promote some DEI bitch over you. (In my field it's not so much racially biased but they LOVE pushing females)

I always thought it was just me until I started my business and cut my workday by 1/3 and got just as much work done without braindead middle management on my dick.

It's unacceptable that I had an easier time starting a business than getting an ENTRY level job

@Stahesh

Getting replaced isn't my issue.

It's the misaligned workplace incentives are.

1. Higher ups will actively sabotage you and refuse to promote you if you're good at your job because they feel threatened.

2. Companies will not give raises commensurate with inflation so you have to job hop to get a raise even if you like the company▶️

@Stahesh Boomers got higher paying jobs with a good handshake.

Now we have to compete against people all over the world, and AI.

Now you see why I was so upset when I lost all my clients.

I CAN'T WAIT until I never need a job again

Stahesh boosted

You guys I just had an epiphany.

I applied to >1,000 jobs for MONTHS to get my 1st job after UNI.

I sent out ~100 proposals to get my 1st client who I still work with to this day.

This market is SO TRASH that I had an easier time getting a client than getting a job.

Let that sink in.
