People pay taxes to get mail service from USPS United States Postal Service in addition to the price of mail stamps
USPS hires FedEx to sort it's mail with taxpayer funds even though FedEx is officially a private sector corporation
Now if your mail gets damaged
FedEx will say they are not liable because USPS did it and USPS will say they are not liable because FedEx did it
