This is a preemptive call to #Fediblock Meta's #P92‌/‌#Barcelona instance, for three reasons at least:
1. it'll be huge and extremely poorly moderated;
2. it will be a #privacy nightmare, allowing Meta to extensively profile #Fediverse users with greater ease;
3. it will be used to #EEE the Fediverse in the same way their “support” for #RSS and #XMPP was used to wipe them out from the general consciousness with a rug-pull (my full thoughts on this: http://wok.oblomov.eu/tecnologia/credible-threat-1/ )

If you don't believe point 3, go reread all the hype about them and Google adopting XMPP two decades ago. You'll see that it aligns perfectly with the one about Facebook and ActivityPub. Nothing has changed since. Meta ha nothing to gain from joining the Fediverse. They're a juggernaut set on monopolizing the web and wiping out the competition. They'll use the federation to kill off Twitter and BlueSky, and then to siphon out the Fediverse itself from the general consciousness.

Don't delude yourself in believing you can pull people from Meta to the open platforms through the federation channel. Not only it will not happen, but it'll actually be the reverse, right before they pull the plug.

It's getting worse. Apparently there's some fediverse admins that are meeting with Meta under #NDA <https://mstdn.social/@rysiek/110548129223290575>.

This is the time to ask your admin to be explicit and clear on what their stance on the #Meta platform is, and if they're not planning on a fediblock, start looking for a different server.

I had a realization when it comes to the whole "trust the experts" meme. There is nothing wrong with experts themselves. Even those who despise the slogan have experts they trust.

The problem is that the "experts" we are told we need to trust are preselected by the government to parrot whatever narrative they want. Other experts who may disagree are never the ones we are given permission to trust.

My son has an assignment from school: test #LexicaAI. I want to make this an opportunity to learn about all the ethical issues of #LLM including: sourcing material for training violating creators' moral and legal rights, worker #exploitation for labeling the training sets, the #energy and #water consumption associated with their use, and the exploitative goals of these models. I know the #askFedi #hivemind can help be gather a sizeable collection of references on these issues, so GO!

Don't worry, you can rest assured with the new #Facebook / Meta moderation policies, pro-trans content will still be censored, as will any form of left-wing political content, and soon anything aimed at organizing people in defense of democracy.
