They say they have identified a gene that could obstruct the development of deeper, thicker roots in upland rice, characteristics that are crucial for drought resistance.
By removing this gene, called HMGB1, irrigated rice developed longer roots and greater drought tolerance, traits similar to those of upland rice, enabling it to thrive in water-scarce environments, according to their paper.
Will they start selling genetically modified rice?

It's baffling how often we overlook the importance of negative freedoms, such as freedom from poverty and the fear of illness or a lack of financial security in old age. These are tangible, real-world freedoms that directly impact our quality of life.

Confucianism as it is generally promoted in South Korea involves blind faith in and obedience to authority figures
It is not as bad in South Korea as in North Korea because various philosophical ideologies from America and Europe and Christianity are opposed to this blind faith in authority figures to a greater degree than modern Confucianism
North Korea is devoid of these other ideologies

They were disappointed because the twins were not women
