@kaiservenom I have a good system.

1. vote for the republican over the democrat.
2. vote for the man over the woman
3. vote for the non-ethnically named man over the ethnically named man.

If there is party affiliation, both candidates are men, and both have non-ethnic names . . . flip a coin.

@graf It's because corn is produced domestically and "big corn" is politically influential. Meanwhile sugar is mostly imported from South America.

So due to a combination of corn subsidies and sugar tariffs, high-fructose corn syrup is a lot cheaper than sugar despite the processing required.

You can't even FIND alternatives with real sugar. You basically have to avoid all processed food and make things from scratch these days.

@Pain66 it's because normies don't think, they conform. They simply need to be told what the socially acceptable opinion is, and they'll conform. Thus "debate" serves as a popularity contest rather than a sincere search for truth.

They are made to be ruled.

@37712 when two men have sex, it's gay. It doesn't matter if one of them is wearing a dress and even if you say "no homo" while your balls are playing pattycake.

@philosophy I get what you're saying but using consciousness as a synonym of awareness creates confusion because you can be subconsciously aware, like a "gut feeling" based on something subtle.

The word "mind" has many definitions too, but I think people understand the subtleties of mind better than the subtleties of consciousness.

My goal is to communicate efficiently and avoid or lessen confusion where possible, which is why I avoid using "consciousness".

I understand what you mean though.

@philosophy My terms come from Sri Bagavath Pathai. He calls it the "three types of vision": sensory vision, mental vision, and the discretionary vision.

sensory vison comes from your senses (duh).

mental vision comes from your mind identifying what your senses are experiencing without judgement.

discretionary vision is when we apply our preferences and values to what we're experiencing.

1. the eyes see a flower
2. the mind identified a flower
3. the self classifies the flower as pleasant.

@philosophy awareness can be subconscious though, so consciousness can't be it's own opposite.

Thus "mind" is the better word since it is not internally contradictory.

You can continue to use the word consciousness, but I think that's sewing confusion.

@philosophy sight attention/focus can still be subconscious.

What is the opposite of subconsciousness?

If subconscious awareness if a kind of consciousness, then what is subconsciousness? What is its opposite?

Maybe there is a better word for this, but I don't think that word is consciousness. I actually hate using that word because it can mean so many different things and is caused more confusion than it solves, and thus fails the purpose of language itself.

@philosophy Again, what you're calling consciousness, I simply call "mind". Mind makes sense out of the information coming in from the senses, but this happens . . . wait for it . . . Subconsciously, meaning at a different level than the consciousness.

Hence definition #2, wherein consciousness is the opposite of subconsciousness, which is intellect and deliberate thought.

I believe "mind" is the better word for the layer between senses and the self-aware ego "consciousness" (see definition 3)

@Pain66 @houseoftolstoy He bought Twitter in order to sell Tesla shares while they were still overpriced without causing a panic.

Generally when the CEO is dumping shares, it causes normal investors to dump shares too, so Elon needed an excuse to sell Tesla shares without appearing to dump shares, like say . . . buying a random company for tens of billions of dollars.

@spectre chai is the name of a tea blend (usually black tea) which is flavored with Indian spices like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, etc.

What do you call that kind of tea to differentiate it from other teas?

@Pain66 they don't know what they don't know. They know what they're told and they seek the path of least resistance from there.

Thinking for themselves and being independent is a threat to their inclusion within the herd. They survive by conforming and being accepted.

I will dub this tea "Yin Yang Tea" because I see a lot of yin yang symbols incorporating a dragon and tiger and the boxes for the Green Tea and "Bengal Spice" herbal tea have a dragon and a tiger on them.

since green chai tea is hard to find (most use black tea) I mixed green tea with herbal tea which had chai spices and it was DEEEEELICIOUS.

I'll include what is in the "Bengel Spice" herbal tea since it's not obvious.

@Scubbie Censoring yourself and coloring within the lines of YouTube won't save you. Eventually you'll be shut down regardless.

@philosophy That's a valid way of looking at it. I would just call the "mediator point between the subminds" the mind, which indeed mediates between the senses. I wouldn't call the senses "subminds" and call the mind "consciousness". However, it looks like we're both describing the same thing with different words, so it's whatever.
