I think it's finally dawning on political "elites" that a Trump return isn't just possible now, but probable. There are increasingly fewer cards to play to stop this and a few have even begun to bargain with the idea of a second Trump term. Much of the resistance to this going forward will be in sewing landmines in the way of his agenda in a second term and less in trying to stop it from happening in the first place.
