Basically I have never used linux before and I want to figure out how to start using it with the type I already have on my chromebook and maybe see if I can install daggerfall. And see if I can get some ms dos games or other programs running on it that use the function keys just to see if I can get the function keys working. And see if I can run hyper rogue which chromebook uninstalled and which was removed from the google play store

tutorial?

But I kind of want to buy a new computer soon because I am concerned the computer prices will hike with the tarriffs. My options I want to choose between are a new chromebook with linux as an adfitional opetating system or a new computer with linux as the only operating system or I can get both. I kind of want to get a new chromebook with diagnol arrow keys on the keyboard if I continue to use chromebooks. I only want a laptop.

I am not sure if Chromebook has a special type of linux to deal with it's unusual keyboard. Maybe it is better to use whatever type of linux it already has built in. I can try to look up the type of linux it has later I am using another device right now.

@special-boy @DeezMistaReez @Zergling_man

Chromebook worked great for me other than the keyboard but they told me I am at the last automatic update and from now on I will only get manual updates. When I get a manual update they warned they would uninstall all my apps. They uninstalled all my apps except certain ones that I believe are default to chromebook. They then would not let me install new apps such as the ones I had installed before. They left a linux terminal app available.

Microsoft Windows was such a waste of memory that even with less processing power my chromebook feels faster to me because it does not have so many things running in the background to waste memory.

I am not looking for a computer stuck on a table nor a smart phone sized computer. I want a laptop sized computer with a laptop sized monitor and keyboard that I can move around, and I do not need much processing power. Does pi have laptops?

@special-boy @DeezMistaReez @Zergling_man

So it sounds to me like you are saying I should find out what type of linux chromebook uses.

Does Linux use function keys a lot. Chromebook does not have function keys on the keyboard but you have to access them in abnormal ways unique to chromebook.

My biggest concern is I would not be able to access function keys on chromebook linux, because the chromebook operating system converts these other keys to function keys

I am the closest to completing Haitian Kreyol Kreole I just hope they did not change the whole thing, I am no where near close to conpleting the other languages except Navajo which I finished multiple times. I am also learning Korean as a Chinese speaker and reseting that would be a nuissance because the lessons usually take longer than Korean or Chinese lessons in English

Some people reset languages after completing them to do them again so at least you will get more practice

@Stahesh

The other thing is Duolingo beginner level Korean for English speakers had everything super formal polite like you were talking to a stranger that is older than you in a higher position of authority or social status than you. But if you learned English as a Korean speaker they made the Korean super informal like a parent talking to their child.

@Stahesh

I believe that the closest they do to deal with the location of an object relative to the speaker or listener was to use the word was "this" or "that" or "my" or "yours" but they did not include a third option like "over there"

Also the Korean course had a problem with anything involving the definite article "the" and the indefinite articles "a" or "an" none of which exist in Korean. There is also no "he" vs "she" or "her" vs "him" in Korean because Korean pronouns have no gender.

@Stahesh

Thank you for letting me know. Just so you know the Duolingo Korean course seemed to be equivelent to multiple semesters at a University and it was very difficult already.

They got some things wrong I think in regards to some Korean words that are very specific and refer to an object that is either next to the speaker, next to the listener or far away from both the speaker and the listener, because we do not have this in English the meaning is extremely specific & was not translated

So would the rasberry pi pretty much have to stay in one place on a table after the monitor is installed or could it be a portable computer that I would not accidentally break moving it with the monitor? Something I could use on a bed and then put back in a computer carrying case when I am done for example?

@DeezMistaReez @Zergling_man

Why not just not buy anything and use the chromebook I already have for Linux? Would it run into problems becausr chromebooks have weird keyboards or for other reasons?

@DeezMistaReez @Zergling_man

If I set up the rasberry pi how do I instal! a operating system if it does not start with an operating system?

@DeezMistaReez @Zergling_man

After I add everything it will probably cost as much as a chromebook

@DeezMistaReez @Zergling_man

Does the rasberry pi come with a monitor? Looked it up on wikipedia and the picture is a chip and a keyboard but no monitor

Evolution does not reward the smartest or the strongest, it rewards those who reproduce

It brings about suffering because those who reproduce no matter how incompetant they are raise the next generation where as those who are competant wait until they are better prepared to reproduce making each generation suffer with more incompetance

@Zergling_man

Let's say I want to use Linux and I already have a chromebook

Under no circumstances am I going to buy a computer with microsoft or apple software

Should I get a new Linux only computer to use Linux or should I use a chromebook?

The Chromebook keyboard is not as good but the Chromebook operating system is better than windows as far as I am concerned

It has a built in app that says something like "Linux terminal"

Are there any beginner guides for linux on chromebook?

I just read the excellent book "The Underground Economy: Why Legalization is the Answer" by Andy Reven and realized that
freedom is essential because it allows individuals to express themselves, pursue their own happiness, and live according to their values. Tyranny, on the other hand, stifles creativity, restricts personal rights, and concentrates power in the hands of a few, leading to oppression.
