So for a period of what seemed like several years the price of one gallon of skim milk was consistently very close to the same as one gallon of gasoline

What is the single WORST thing you can do to a group of weak collectivist men? Take their women's rights away. Now their weakness is rewarded, the weaker individuals will reproduce over the rest and they'll bend the knee harder.
Men enforce their own tyranny, women are a non-factor.

One way to generate a list of symbols for each number is the major memory system although it is not the only system, there are systems involving words rhyming with numbers or shapes that represent numbers or cultural symbols that represent numbers such as a symbol representing bad luck if you view 13 culturally as bad luck, 9 for a cat if you culturally view cats as having nine lives, and so on
There are 2 ways to memorize lists of numbers
The Peg way and the Link way
Either way you create a symbol to represent each number that is preferably a noun
In the link way you make a story using verbs to link together each number with the previous number and the next number and imagine the story visualizing it using your five senses
In the peg way you can remember the order each number is in by combining each number with a symbol for the order it is in such as 1st or 2nd 3rd plus the number
