Personally I prefer DAS over NAS. I don't need a permanently on, internet-facing, networked server in my house just to serve files on my LAN.

DAS, non-networked, no internet and only on when i need it. Works for me.

I had a friend who was married to a violent abusive woman. I witnessed it twice, really brutal. He never fought back which only made her more angry and abusive.

Of course everyone advised him to divorce, which he did eventually when it got too much.

Leaving is the only real solution.

I see. Depends on the situation. If it's a rando in public then just run. Better than any alternative. If you can't then whip out the phone to record, call out for others to help as witnesses and do what you can to de-escalate without knocking her godamn teeth out.

If it's private with someone you know, then bad luck. Record if you can, GTFO if you can and then end the situation with that bitch permanently asap.

Just one of the implications:

At some point someone will automate these steps so that you can just give an initial input like ...

"Create me a 2 minute video of Alan Watts as a talking head speaking about the impact of smartphones"

.. and it will use each of those programs in turn to spit out a finished video.

When that's possible, people will be free to "create" their own content.

Looks OK, and Buffalo is a known name in the market.

Anything you get will have RAID, so best to also buy spare drives for when one of them fucks up. Never RAID 0. Either RAID 1 or better yet, RAID 5 if your unit can do it.

Also, RAID is not backup it's just disk redundancy. It pays to also backup to a single high capacity disk in case of major oopsies.
