@shortstories - I once looked up the age of the virgin Mary when she was supposed to have been knocked up by God.

Unsurprisingly, I couldn't find a source. But she was supposed to have been betrothed to Joseph at the time, and he was bringing her to his homeland when it was supposed to have happened.

But cultural practices of the time and place, would put the Virgin Mary at about 14.

Apparently, Christianity approves. 👍

@shortstories - I would build society around the family unit. The family is served by a wife/mother only having one partner. This partner should be her husband. Fucking is what causes babies to be born.

So it stands to reason, that the age of marriage should be set to whenever girls start fucking.

I would put the average of that age at 14 in the US.

Is it just me, or does there seem to be an agenda afoot in the world of waifus? 🤔

@Based_Accelerationist - Oh no doubt. 😅

2012 is what got me looking at our society, as I tried to tease out "how exactly is this Mayan prophesy gonna go down?" 🤔

Once I took a good look with a critical eye though... It was like "Wait a sec, is everything really this rickety??" And nothing I saw contradicted the thought, so I started buying food & lead, building a variety of skill-sets, and haven't looked back since.

I mean hey, whatever gets someone to notice. 💁🏻‍♂️😁🍻

@shortstories - I voted 15-18.

If I had a magic wand though, I would cripple the power of the state, and things like marriage-age laws would become more like socially enforced guidelines.

I wouldn't encourage 40yr olds to marry 15yr olds (unless they're war-brides or something - then it's up to the warrior's discretion).

But in the rare case that two 14yr olds wish to marry, and their fathers don't object, then I wouldn't stand in their way, nor should the law.

@shortstories - ➡️ But in the rare instance two 14yr olds or 13yr olds wish to marry, and their fathers don't object, then I wouldn't stand in the way, and nor should the law.

@shortstories - by itself, as an isolated measure taken, it would do nothing.

When combined with other measures, the difference would astound.

@Gonzo17 - I know my thumb got a lot greener when I started adding lots of compost. For season1, I added a couple cubic yards to a plot, for 3-4 inches of coverage. That was a bit excessive In hindsight, but the harvest was phenomenal.

Anyhow, it looks like you're in the southwest, judging by the soil... 🤔 Seems like a lot of clay and sand on camera, and more organic mass would probably benefit immensely.

Cheers, and Good Luck! 🍻

@Indignation - Well, she's no ButterBean. 🤭

@Based_Accelerationist @Stahesh - It's funny, 'cause 2012 is what got me prepping.

Oh sure, I felt a little silly in 2013. 🤔😅 But I'm feeling a lot less silly in 2024. 💁🏻‍♂️🥃

@sardonicsmile - It's always nice to hear a brit say it. It's vindicating, and also they generally sound better when they talk.
😂🍻

@Indignation - I can't tell if that's uncle Adolf... 🤔 ...or George Kirby. 😂

@shortstories - I voted after 1776, with the understanding that feminism is an overtly political movement.

But I would say that Christianity has been gynocentric for much longer than that.

@Mongoliaboo - Yeah, that segment took an unexpected turn. 😂

@ButtWorldsMan - And when you examine a concept such as angels, with an open mind unattached to Christianity, they start to look a lot like lesser deities.

The Christian mythos (for lack of a better descriptor), looks a lot like a Mediterranean or Nordic pantheon... and the various pantheons scattered across the globe over time. 💁🏻‍♂️

Anywho, just 2¢ (...or maybe 4). 😅🍻

@ButtWorldsMan - 2¢: One doesn't need to be atheist to understand that Christianity is incorrect. There's lots of different options when it comes to belief/value structures.

I call myself a pagan, because that's what a Christian would call me. But I believe in God (the father), while not believing in Jesus, and also while not being Jewish. Personally, I think God goes by many names, so I don't even worry about the name. I trust an all-knowing deity to know who my prayers are addressed to.
