It also may be true that some of his advice does not really work well with the high inflation and overall bad economic conditions. That does not mean you should just disregard all financial planning principles. But rather understand that you should not blindly follow every principle to the letter if it does not make sense to do so.

And as for things outside of finances, Dave Ramsey most certainly falls in the TradCon category. So taking his advise on marriage would be foolish.

For those of you familiar with Dave Ramsey, I will say this: most likely, you are not smarter than Dave Ramsey.

However, it is likely you are smarter than his core audience. So if you are able to find ways to tweak his methodology to get out of debt quicker and make more money, by all means do so. Though if you make tweaks and if backfires, you may need to assess if you are really smart enough to work outside of his guidelines.

@sardonicsmile What do they do? Provide connections/give you a foot in the door among the other powerful elite. Sort of like a secret handshake. Most of those people are not really smarter than the general population when they are the children of the people in power. Those that first rose to power might be smarter, but nepotism will only make the next generations duller.

Many colleges operate in this same fashion. The average person does not realize the college itself does not confer success.

@greyknight33 @furgar Reddit as a whole sucks, but there are some areas that do not suck (or at least suck less). A lot of the best parts got banned or were subverted. That is often the fate for any part of that site not currently under the control of the power mods. Any "popular" part of Reddit will suck by default because of the overt manipulation. So if you avoid Reddit altogether, there is no real loss.

There is no bribe big enough to make a woman want a child if she is dead set against it.

And if you really, really want a child, you can find a way to afford it. In most cases, I see "it is too expensive" as a cop out to those who do not want children anyways.
