Haven't looked a germinating seeds in a while but I use to put them in a plastic bag wrapped in a soaking wet paper towel. IIRC useing full water might take longer or over saturate. Check, I could be half remembering haha

If you're having stringing issues its likely a retraction setting issue or your filament isn't dry enough. Check out one of these filament dryers or there are plenty of DIY's online you could copy.

Its a type of program that slices a 3D object into 2D layers so it can be 3d printed.
Not sure if you know already but in most slicers they have a support option for "Tree" or "Organic" supports. It uses less filament and reduces the contact surfaces. Give it a try if you haven't do so already.
