Seems to me, that a better way of achieving shared values, is to have shared circumstances and experiences. And of course, the foundation of any functional nation, is strong and enforceable contract law. 🫡

I remember when I was a staunch patriot who had just learned of China's 50¢ army (circa 2014). I used to engage them when encountered, with the thought that even if they were paid propogandist agents, such engagement could affect their own worldview.
I liked the idea of using 50¢-ers as a way of fighting their employer. Wouldn't it be funny if I removed some Chicom's party naivate?
It was probably a waste of my time, but I had fun.

I used to smoke cigars decades ago, but then I tried a hookah, and never looked back. So I don't know what the scene is. Now I get to look thoughtful and considerate on some random day.

As far as I know, there are two main editions. I think the first one was published in the 50's. I got this one off of eBay, and I think the earlier version was substantially cheaper, though naturally tends to be more worn and torn.
But I'm good with 1989 levels of academic wokeness. And I gotta say... This thing is pretty exhaustive.
Well lads, I made a poor financial decision... But on the bright-side, the post-collapse library has just gained a substantial addition. 🫡

Did it hit home? Did the abstract knowledge motivate me? No.
I dunno why I never thought of it in such stark terms, but it seems applicable.
For the sake of strategic patience regarding collapse (that is, for the sake of not being motivated to do something stupid, unproductive, and a waste of my own life)... I have to try not to think about it too much.
But it pisses me off in a visceral way - in a motivational sort of way.

@Justicar @UncleIroh - I've been thinking, the Mineral Rights deal, is nothing more than a fig leaf. If there's no minerals in what's left of Ukraine, aside from under Kiev... then there's no point, other than for NATO to walk away with nothing, while being able to say they got something. That's why Russia wouldn't object.
And Zelensky here... is acting like a woman, sabotaging a fig leaf. And Trump? He's frustrated with Z-bitch here, and may be about to say "fuck this."
