I have one of the old ones and it's built like a tank. Heavy too. As such it's a better deal to pick up an old one, especially as commercial real estate is still in the toilet and offices over the last few years have sold/returned their equipment.

I have an old Pixel 3 or 3a, I don't remember which, but it's the first phone I started using GrapheneOS on. Or maybe it was it's predecessor, CopperheadOS, which I also used. Again, can't remember.
Anyway, the charging port on those models were absolute dogshit. If I could replace that single component I'd still be using it today for something or other.
