It fails as a currency in every important aspect it needed to: no portability, no security, no privacy, high transaction cost and intrinsic counterparty risk.

It's a great speculative asset though because it has inbuilt insane volatility.

While I fully agree with you DD, that's not how humans operate. Biology prevents us from being decently objective when processing ideas that goes against our identity/ego or self-interest - resisting is a feature, not a bug.

I think it is possible though to get closer to it, ironically, as we embrace transhumanism and start to merge more with machines. By running simulations and measuring outcomes objectively is exactly how AIs "improves" things.
