every boy growing up has to contend with violence & war. his attitude to violence, capacity for it, inclination for it, skill level, under what conditions to use it, against whom, how far to go.

this includes hunting, revenge, retaliation, defense & offense. and for those of us that believe in a moral universe, good and evil.

I advise young'uns to think about their moral/ethical grounding FIRST, because a worldview necessarily entails all scenarios.

Consequentialist reasoning in 1v1 conflict seems to work out, but against the State it leads you to caving to Solzhenitsyn scenarios - "I wish everyone had ignored personal consequences". Now everyone is fucked so we all break rocks until we die, cowards.
